Research Associates (RA) Program in Emergency Medicine
St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport CT
During the school year,
we want our RAs focused on their school work and do not offer any
opportunities outside of the one (1) four-hour shift per week in the
emergency department.

During the summer semester, there are a number of opportunities we
offer to RAs:
  • following an anesthesiologist on pre-op rounds, in the OR and
    for post-op visits
  • shadowing a radiology resident
  • didactic sessions on topics such as
  • clinical research
  • medical decision-making
Other Opportunites During the Summer Semester
  • medical school admissions
  • practical sessions and hands-on work with such on topics as
  • wound prep and suturing
  • FAST (Focused Abdominal Sonography in Trauma) and other aspects of ultrasound
  • research activities with other clinical investigators at St. Vincent's
  • shadowing experiences in a variety of clinical specialties

Participation in the Research Associates Program is the key which unlocks to door to many clinical
opportunities limited only by your ambitions and assertiveness.
